This includes all cannabinoids, terpenes, and flavonoids. While cannabidiol (CBD) will be found in higher amounts, full-spectrum CBD oil will also contain small amounts of other cannabinoids like cannabigerol (CBG), cannabinol (CBN), and cannabichromene (CBC). If you’re new to CBD oil, all the information can seem overwhelming, but that’s why we’re here. In this article, we’ll discuss how to determine your optimal dose and different ways to take CBD oil as well as answer some of the most frequently asked questions. #### How To Use Full-Spectrum CBD Oil Deciding to use full-spectrum CBD Oil was step one, but where do you go from there? Here’s what you need to know about how to use it and different ways you can use it too. ##### Determine Your Optimal Dose Your optimal dose of CBD depends on what you’re seeking relief from as well as your body chemistry. While falling within ranges, [everyone’s perfect dose is unique](https://feals-lab.jebbit.com/n3zrik6g?L=Email&JC=email&utm_source=M6%3A%20Dosing%20Quiz&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=Email%20%231%20%28YcPXid%29&bxid=01FC9ADD97EAJJ1WD1GN4AAN2X&_kx=jM_9tSnWtKkghBDiXmpCDAg28w1VxU8KPdvI8bNmNhLBqSpMAvNqMKKKEyiIqh4q.P3szt6) due to your body’s response to the CBD molecule. Here are some guidelines to help you determine your initial dose: We like to view the first month or so of taking CBD oil as a trial period to help you understand what works for you to feel your desired effects. In general, we recommend starting with a lower dose and incrementally increasing it over time to hone in on your unique sweet spot. For your first week, aim to take your CBD at the same time each day, paying close attention to how you’re feeling. You might even consider [tracking your CBD journey](https://asset.feals.com/mentalhealth/Feals+Journal.pdf) each day, noting any changes you feel, whether they’re small or big, as well as any internal and external factors that might be playing a role in how you’re feeling. This will really help you better fine-tune your dose. You can take it under your tongue (sublingual consumption) or even add it to your favorite drink. [Taking CBD oil under your tongue](https://discover.feals.com/how-to-take-cbd-oil-under-your-tongue-fls) allows for faster and more efficient absorption of CBD compared to other products like [edibles](https://discover.feals.com/benefits-of-cbd-edibles-fls). By taking it this way, CBD can be quickly absorbed underneath the tongue through small capillaries in the oral mucosa, or mucous membrane, allowing it to directly enter the bloodstream. If you’re looking to get the most out of your CBD oil, we recommend taking it sublingually. Here’s what you do: - Fill the dropper with your desired amount of CBD oil. - Use the dropper to gently squeeze the oil out directly under your tongue. - Hold the CBD oil under your tongue for 30 seconds before swallowing. If you’re not big on the earthy taste of CBD oil, you can always add it to a beverage, such as [coffee](https://discover.feals.com/cbd-oil-in-coffee-tips-for-your-morning-routine-fls), tea, juice, or smoothies. Doing it this way will add to the bioavailability and onset time due to being ingested and absorbed into the body through your stomach. ##### How To Use Full-Spectrum CBD Oil FAQs Does full spectrum oil contain THC? Yes, federally legal full-spectrum CBD oil does contain a very [small amount of tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) (<0.3%)](https://discover.feals.com/how-much-thc-is-in-cbd-oil-fls). If you’re sensitive to THC or are worried about testing positive on a drug test, you may look at getting a [broad-spectrum CBD](https://discover.feals.com/full-spectrum-vs-broad-spectrum-cbd-which-is-right-for-you-fls) oil instead. Are full-spectrum CBD oils more effective than broad-spectrum and isolate CBD oils? When you take a full-spectrum CBD oil, the companion cannabis compounds are believed to work together, creating something called an [entourage effect](/content/discover/what-is-the-entourage-effect-when-using-cbd-explaining-the-science-fls/index.html). This phenomenon suggests that the combination of multiple cannabis compounds (cannabinoids, terpenes, and flavonoids) may enhance the sensations of a given cannabinoid compared to when a single cannabinoid is taken alone. Most experts believe that a small amount of THC is required to produce this effect, meaning you’ll only experience the entourage effect with full-spectrum CBD products. How should I store my CBD oil? Like a lot of foods and supplements, CBD oil is affected by changes in light, temperature, and oxygen. Here’s how to preserve your CBD oil’s freshness and potency: - Store your oil at a cool temperature. Anywhere between 60 to 70 degrees Fahrenheit will do. - Store your oil in a dark place like a cupboard, pantry, or closet. The big thing here is making sure you avoid exposing the CBD oil to direct sunlight. - Make sure wherever you choose to store your CBD oil is away from heat sources like stoves or radiators. - Keep the oil in its original container and make sure to close it tightly after use to avoid any unnecessary exposure to air. - Make sure you keep your CBD dropper clean to avoid contaminants getting into the oil. If you take CBD oil under your tongue, be careful not to touch the dropper against the inside of your mouth. How long does it take to feel the effects after taking CBD oil? How long do the effects last? If you’re taking CBD oil sublingually, you can expect to feel the effect within 15-30 minutes. The effects can last anywhere from four to six hours. Do you have to be 18 to buy full-spectrum CBD oil? Do you have to be 18 to buy full-spectrum CBD oil?The simple answer is it depends. At a federal level, people can buy hemp-derived CBD at any age. However, many states have some sort of law in place that requires people to be a specific age to purchase CBD. Some states may not have this in place, some may require you to be 18, and others require you to be 21.
